Inaho Snow Resort In-Depth Guide: Everything You Need to Know About SnowLife’s Home Slope

Inaho Snow Resort In-Depth Guide: Everything You Need to Know About SnowLife’s Home Slope

&nbspIf you ask me, which ski resort in Hokkaido am I most familiar with?

The answer has always been only one: Teine.

It’s not because Teine is the most famous ski resort in the world, but because this place is where we have brought one Hong Kong student after another—from stumbling to smooth gliding. For SnowLife, Teine is not just a ski resort—it’s our home base.

What is Teine?

Teine is the large ski resort closest to downtown Sapporo, about a 30-minute drive away. The resort itself has a history—the downhill and slalom events of the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics were held at Teine.

Today, Teine is divided into two main areas:

Olympia Zone (Lower Mountain Area)

  • Elevation: 383m – 683m

  • Features: Gentle slopes, wide trails, magic carpets and beginner area facilities are complete

  • Best for: Beginners, families with children, those who want to ski comfortably

Highland Zone (Upper Mountain Area)

  • Elevation: 683m – 1,023m

  • Features: Steeper slopes, mainly intermediate and advanced trails, night skiing facilities available (after sunset until 8:30 PM)

  • Best for: Those with some experience who want to improve speed and technique

Why is Teine SnowLife’s home base?

There are actually several practical reasons.

1. Most convenient transportation
From New Chitose Airport to a hotel in Sapporo, you can reach Teine and start snowboarding within 45 minutes the next morning. No need for extra long drives—saves both time and money.

2. Excellent teaching conditions
The beginner area in Olympia Zone is long and wide enough to fully practice turning rhythm without finishing too quickly and having to queue. This is very important for private coaching—students have enough space to repeat practice and progress faster.

3. Adults and children can ski separately
Adults can go to Highland to challenge themselves, while children stay in Olympia to practice. Each has their own instructor, and they can meet for a meal after two hours—this arrangement is especially easy to achieve at Teine.

4. Night skiing experience
Teine’s night skiing facilities are among the best in Hokkaido. After a full day of skiing, night skiing starts at 6 PM, pairing perfectly with dinner in downtown Sapporo for a very complete day itinerary.

Suggested One-Day Itinerary at Teine

8:30 AM Depart from Sapporo hotel, take a taxi or shuttle bus to Teine

9:00 AM Arrive at the resort, change, rent equipment, meet SnowLife instructor

9:30 AM – 12:30 PM 3-hour morning private lesson (Olympia Zone beginner/intermediate trails)

12:30 PM – 1:30 PM Lunch at the resort restaurant (Teine doesn’t have many restaurant options, so bringing some food is recommended)

1:30 PM – 4:00 PM Afternoon free practice or additional lesson

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Short break, wait for night skiing to start

6:00 PM – 8:30 PM Night skiing (Highland Zone, trails under lights have a unique charm)

9:00 PM Return to Sapporo, find a good place for late-night snacks

How is the snow quality at Teine?

Teine’s snow quality is not as extreme as the powder snow at Niseko or Furano, but it is highly stable. Even on non-powder days, the trails remain in good condition and are less likely to become icy and hard.

For beginners and intermediate skiers, stable snow quality is actually more beneficial for practice than occasional extreme powder.

Teine Dining and Accommodation Recommendations

Accommodation: Staying in Sapporo is most convenient
No need to stay near the resort; staying in downtown Sapporo is more flexible—more choices, wide price range, and you can go to Susukino for dinner and drinks in the evening. From downtown to Teine: taxi about ¥5,000–6,000, shuttle bus about ¥1,000–1,500.

Dining: Resort restaurant + downtown dinner
There aren’t many restaurant options inside the resort, so lunch is best kept simple. Dinner back in the city is a great reward for the day.

SnowLife Courses at Teine

Teine is SnowLife’s main base in Hokkaido, with arrangements throughout the snow season.

We offer:

  • 1-on-1 Private Lessons (most recommended, fastest progress)

  • 1-on-2 Small Group Lessons (learn with friends or partners)

  • Parent-Child Separate Lessons (adults and children take lessons at the same time, each with their own instructor)

All lessons are taught in Cantonese by CASI internationally certified instructors.

Step-on snowboard rental, snowwear rental, and lift ticket discounts are available. Regular prices and course package deals can be inquired via private message.
