Qianhai Ice and Snow World Complete Guide — The Ultimate Hong Kongers’ Guide to Skiing in the North

Qianhai Ice and Snow World Complete Guide — The Ultimate Hong Kongers’ Guide to Skiing in the North

If you are a Hong Konger, here’s some great news.

No need to fly to Japan, book plane tickets, or take leave—just set off from home and in about an hour you can reach the world’s largest indoor ski resort.

Yes, the world’s largest. No exaggeration.

What is Qianhai Ice & Snow World?

Opening at the end of September 2025, Qianhai Ice & Snow World in Shenzhen’s Bao’an District is currently the world’s largest indoor ski resort, with an indoor snow area of 100,000 square meters—equivalent to 14 football pitches.

Inside, there are five professional runs certified by the International Ski Federation (FIS); the longest run is 463 meters with an 83-meter vertical drop, comparable to many outdoor resorts in Japan. There are also two terrain parks and a fun-snow zone, all with serious equipment.

How convenient is it from Hong Kong?

This is what SnowLife loves telling its students.

From Futian Port or Shenzhen Bay Port, take the metro to Huizhancheng Station Exit D and walk five minutes—about an hour in total. A taxi straight from Shenzhen Bay Port takes only about 33 minutes.

In other words, leave home at 10 a.m. and by 11 a.m. you’ll already be riding at the world’s largest indoor ski resort.

What’s there to ride?
